Question:

: I had a similar issue with my Australian Shepherd when I had her spayed. I recommend strongly that you take your dog to a second vet to have her examined. When this happened with my Aussie, the vet had used inappropriate stitch material to suture my Aussie internally. Her body had a very bad reaction to it that caused severe scarring. This is now affecting her in her later years. It is also possible that your vet is correct in his/her assessment, but a second opinion and assessment of appropriate treatment going forward would be warranted.

Response:

Dear Kerry,

Thank you for you sharing the information about your Aussie. I agree that another assessment/opinion should be considered as I've personally had three females spayed and none have had problems with either their internal or external sutures.
