Old Jack Russell?

Question:

My 9 year old JRT had hip surgery 1.5 years ago to remove an eroded femoral ball. She recovered nicely but still limps especially after exercise. My question is --- she is only 9 years old but I am concerned about her "acting old". This may apply to all dogs, but when should I start looking for signs of aging in this girl? She is slowing down, seems "stiff" and goes through periods that resemble depression. Thanks. Joann
