Question:

: I have a one year old JR. We live near a 5 mile stretch of beach, which as you can imagine is walked regularly by our JR and us. However he does a "runner" the minute he is off the lead. He only does this when other animals are on the beach. He tries to dominate every other animal on the beach. His latest accomplishment was running off and barking his head off and nipping at a couple of horses on the beach (so much so that one horse thew its rider). When he is on one of his "runners" on the beach, although we know he hears us calling, he will not come back. He only comes back when HE is ready to. As you can imagine we are worried that he will meet his match and end up the worse for it. We have tried taking treats, dicipline and every other thing we can possibly imagine. Any suggestions??

Response:

I would suggest that you keep him on a leash when on the beach before he hurts another animal or person in the case of the horse.
