Question:

: My dog has been displaying dominant behavior (humping?) towards me (his owner) lately. He is getting plenty of exercise from my husband and myself but I recently went out of town for a few days and he is constantly trying to grasp my leg now. I'm using a squirt bottle but don't know what else to do or why he's doing it

: Please advise

Dear Cassy,

Yes, humping is a sign of a dominant attitude. I imagine your terrier has likely been showing other "signs" of dominance so I'm not inclined to think your short trip away from home is related to the problem.

In order to stop the behaviors, you need to change the attitude. As you are not the only owner who has had this problem, you will find plenty of information on how to deal with it by using our search engine.

Good luck,
Leslie
