| Question: : I had my JRT boarded at my Vets while I was away for 10 days. The day I brought her home she was very excited to see me and that night she had diarrhea. The next day I noticed her stool was soft and lighter in color (light brown) than it normally is, but it wasn't like her diarrhea the night before. I called my Vet to see if my JRT had had diarrhea while boarding, but according to him her stools were normal. I thought perhaps they hadn't fed her the food I instructed her her to fed. I also noticed she drinks a bit more water than usual as well. I live in South Florida so it could just be the heat. Other than that her appetite is fine and she acts normal. Could this bout of diarrhea be from the over excitement of coming home after being at the Vets for a week and a half?
My guess is it's just from the excitement but to be on the safe side continue to watch her and check to make sure her stools aren't bloody. She will probably drink more water as I am sure she did plenty of barking while boarded ;) If she continues with diarrhea for longer than another day or two call your vet and discuss a bland diet until her tummy settles again.
