New doggy questions

Question:

Hi there! I have been thinking long and hard about getting a JTR, but before i do, i have a few questions.

1: "After puppy stage" A normal working day he will be left alone for about 4 hours a day, but two times a week I work late and will therefore have to leave him alone for around 5-6 hours at a time. Is this suitable for a JRT?
2: I have had two dachshunds that sadly now has passed away (15.5 and 17 Years old) and I´ve gotten the idea that a JRT is a shorter version of a dachshund on speed? =)
Is the JRT similar to the dachshund but more lively?
