: My 5 month old jack is a major tugger. I was having concerns with this damaging his trachea so i got the Gentle Leader head collar. My vet highly suggested this. I know I did the fitting right because the people at the petstore helped me out, but my jack keeps on trying to take it off. I know this is natural, but now when he has it on he won't budge. I can't take him on a walk at all now with this. What should I do to make this more comfortable for him? I really think this is a great way to fix his tugging problem. Yes, I will be taking him to obediance class soon. In the meantime any suggestions would be appreciated.

Patty, I would get a harness for him, until you can get into an obedience class. This will take the pressure off his throat, and give you a lot more control. The flat nylon ones aren't that expensive, and are adjustable while he's growing. Good luck. C.P.
