Leaving the kids home alonePosted by: Sam Gold

My two JRT's Chase and Fannie are 20 mos. and 12 mos. old respectively. They were originally crate trained as pups and we still put them in their crates when we leave the house. Chase is neutered, but Fannie has not been spayed (she recently went through her first heat). Both of them get along just fine. They'll lay on the couch together, share a chair, and play fight at times. Chase will sometimes growl at her when his toys or food are treatened, but that's it. We've never had a major problem as far as destructiveness is concerned (except they like to chew up blankets and bed sheets). So many people give their dogs run of the house when they're gone. I'd like to experiment leaving both of them home alone for short periods outside of their crates to transition into giving then full freedom. What are your views on this? Thanks!
