nails cut too short

Question:

Its me again with yet another JRT query. Bailey is now 8 months old, and 5 weeks ago we got her spayed. When we picked her up from the vets, we noticed that they had clipped her nails ( right to the pink). I wasn't too happy with them clipping her nails because they didn't ask and we make a habit of clipping her nails ourselves. Anyways, they clipped her nails so short that we can't take her outside on any rough or gravel surface because her nails bleed (extremely). We told them about the problem and they figure that its not that serious and that they will grow back soon enough - just keep her on grass. Huh, thats easy for them to say. Bailey is so used to her runs and play time everyday. Anyways, does this hurt her and will they grow back. It has been almost 6 weeks and they still don't look any different. Its hard not to take her for runs with her frisbee. If they don't grow back soon they said they will glue fake nails on her paws. Have you heard of this happening before and should I be worried? I hate to think that my Bailey-girl is experiencing discomfort because of this. Thanks, Trish
