Question:

: My 3yr old female keeps attacking my 8mo old male. Both are jrts and both neutered. I NEVER leave the two of them together unattended. Sometimes it is as simple as the puppy gets too close while she is playing with a toy. There has been blood drawn, and I'm afraid she will severly hurt the puppy or worse.
: She is wonderful with people. Not so with other dogs in general. I am very frustrated, and would appreciate any advise.

Response:

Hi Kate,

Are you making sure the female is in the alpha role? Make sure she is getting fed first, toys first, treats first, etc. This might help to take some of the aggression off the male.

See if this will help the situation. Give it some time to work. In the interim continue to never leave the two alone together.

Sometimes though Kate, it's just impossible for some dogs to get along with another in the same house. This is a fact of life. Some people have to give one of them up or plan on keeping both dogs separated for life.

Regards,
Marie
