| Question: : I have 5 11wk old pups with a skin condition. Not all have same severity. Vet has determined it's not bacterial, not mites, and not ring-worm. Looks like: red bumps with clear liquid crusty material on top. No pustules. Located on all parts of the body, though worst on belly and back, and miserably itchy. Hair thinning on legs and chest. Adult dogs not affected. Does this sound familiar? Vet is baffled and opting for costly process of elimination. If I have a ball-park blind guess because it sounds familiar to someone, we can cut to the chase. Desperate to clear up so I can place pups.
Ball-park, blind guess -- Fleas or contact dermatitis. Adults would not likely be affected by either of these problems due to previous flea/tick treatments and a general tolerance for "things" in their environment. By "things" I mean what they sleep on, play in, etc. Again, this is pure speculation and is based soley upon what you have written. Age on onset is a potential clue that I suggest you discuss with your vet. Good luck, |
