Question:

: I have a five-year old male Jack Russell. I have just purchased a female puppy, who is ready to go now. I am also moving in two weeks. I have done all the research on adding a second JRT and I am pretty confident they will be a good match personality wise (he is a little dominant, she is submissive). My question is this...Some people have told me to get the pup now before I move. Since my male is more dominant they say this will help with establishing the pecking order and he will be more comfortable in a place he knows. Also the pup will be younger which they say may help. Others say get the pup just after you move, because it may reduce any territorial aggression. Some say it doesn't matter either way. I don't think it really matters, because there are pros and cons each way. What do you think? Thanks in advance for weighing in.

Response:

I would personally wait until I moved. Not only for your male but it will makes things easier on house training the female, the less you upset her routine the better off you will be.
