Question:

: My 1 yr old has a large sctratch under her hind leg (where there is no hair) from jumping over a small wood fence. she keeps licking the area to clean it. should I allow her to do this or does the area need to be kept dry to heal? Thank you for your help as I can't afford to take her to the vet with all her bumps and scrapes she get, which are more now that we are walking her in the open brush area where she chases rabbitts. she gets into the bushes and comes out with scratches and also has white crust at the tips of her ears for a while, which wnet away but also took the hair with it. I looked in the forum and saw Vit E was uses by some for wounds, would that help the ears? thanks again. sorry so long.

Dear Sandra,

I'm sure your girl is enjoying romping through the open brush and I appreciate that you are aware that she is more prone to injury doing so. Like every JRT owner, you have to weigh your terrier's enjoyment against her health...not an easy balance to find or maintain. :-)

Please do not attempt to "treat" your terrier without knowing what the problem is.

Take care,
Leslie
