Question:

: Ernie gets a severe rash on his stomach and legs especially after we cut the lawn. We've tried ointment, lotions and antihistamine to no avail. Is there something else we can try? He's in a lot of discomfort.

Response:

Hi Lynn,

If Ernie's rash is due to him being "sensitive" to grass, then you might try rinsing off his belly and legs will cool water when he comes in from outside. A washcloth will work as well.

As puppies, both of our terriers developed a rash on their undercarriages (!) shortly after we brought them home. Our vet determined it was the grass but suggested only the above treatment as they were so young. The rash lasted about a month and the following Spring, they had no problems at all. :-)

Good luck,
Leslie
