Question:

: my dog has had two seizures,
: i was informed, dont remember by whom, that jack russells are prone to seizures.
: is this true or should i be seriously concerned?
: ny vet suggested that i bring him in within 24hrs for blood work but the two times it has happened, it has been at a time when the vet was not in to do the work hence, no blood work.
: can someone please respond.
: thanks

Hi Eddie.

Please find the nearest teaching hospital. They have board certified specialist who can help you. Also they offer medical care 24 hours a day.

JRT have been known to inheret seizures. So please get to a nuerologist or specialist right away. A general vet may not be equipped to give you the proper diagnoses. It is no reflection on them. It is just that they see too many species and can only specialize in so much.

I have friends who have jrt who have seizures. I can put you in touch with them. They are conrolling the seizures with medication. Please e-mail me privately.

Please tell the breeder about the condition. The breeder should know about the condition of a dog it bred.

Lastly, this is serious. Get to a specialist RIGHT AWAY!!

Thank you and good luck,
