Question:

: We are in the process of adopting an unwanted JRT, Carlie, a young female. The owners have verified that she is pregnant times one month. They do not know who the father is, but think that it may be a German short hair. My question is this. If the father is indeed the German short hair, what will the pups most likely be like and why? We are not interested in selling JRT puppies. Our concern is for the well being of Carlie. The vet made the comment that at one month of pregnancy she is still very small, leading hime to think that perhaps the father was of a small breed. Anyway, thank you for your time. Great website.

: Chad Johnson and family.

Hi Chad,
The responsibility of bringing puppies into the world is the same, whether they are JRTs, GSPs or any other breed or mix. It's an ENORMOUS responsibility. Perhaps speaking with your vet will give you some insight on what rearing pups involves, including the rigors of finding them good, permanent homes and being responsible for their well-being for life. Your concern for Carly is commendable, but you need to be concerned for all the dogs involved.
Good luck!
