: My family and I recently got a Jack Russle from a pound. Shortly after he was home we dicovered he was chasing light reflections off of anything metal. I was wondering if there is any way to minimize OCD in dogs or if he'll just live with it forever. Thank you for any information you can give me.

Hi, Martin,

The best way to deal with this type of behavior is to be certain that your terrier is getting LOTS of exercise. Sometimes this behavior gets really bad because the terrier is finding a way to amuse him/herself. A tired Jack Russell is always a well behaved Jack Russell, and they'll often exercise themselves if you give them a way to do it.

Try working on some obedience, too. Find constructive ways to distract your terrier from chasing reflections. There are several great books available here Training Books

Good luck!
