Question:

: My Jack Russell is some what well behaved, but it seems that every time I give him a bath and try to dry him off, he becomes extremely angry with the towel and me. He starts to bite and yelp, any ideas on why he would do this? He is usually pretty good until there is a towel in his sight. Thanks,

Hi Bill,

Well this one is stumping me! First of all I hope you are bathing your terrier only when he really, really needs it. Too much bathing is bad for their skin as it robs them of the natural oils they need to maintain a healthy coat and skin.

I would let him shake himself off as much as possible before using a towel and remember when trying to use one, don't rub him so hard with it he thinks you are rough-housing with him.

You might want to start to condition him to the towel by placing one in his crate or if you let him up on the couch with you by placing one on top of him like a blanket.

This is all I can come up with, sorry!

Regards,
Marie
