Question:

: I JUST BOUGHT A PUPPY 8 WEEKS AGO AND I HAVE BEEN TRAINING HER MYSELF. WE HAVE GOTTEN THE CRATE TRAINING, MOST OF THE POTTY TRAINING, AND SHE CAN DO SOME TRICKS. BUT I WOULD LIKE TO TAKE HER TO TRAINING CLASSES FOR SOME OF THE OTHER THINGS SHE NEEDS TO LEARN IN ORDER TO BE A GOOD FAMILY DOG. I WANT A TRAINER WHO IS GOOD WITH JACK RUSSELLS SPECIFICALLY. THE BREEDER I GOT HER FROM DOESNT HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHERE I CAN GET A DIRECTORY OF TRAINERS IN MY AREA. CAN ANYONE HELP ME OUT? I LIVE IN THE CINCINNATI OHIO AREA.
: THANKS,
: JESSICA

Hi Jessica,

Congratulations on your new puppy!

I am going to provide a link to a place where you can do a search for accredited trainers in your area.

As I tell everyone, a good trainer will be able to help you with any type of dog. A good trainer knows the characteristics of all the different types (i.e. terriers, herding dogs) and what makes them tick and can adjust methods for specific character types.

I don't think there are trainers out there that are one breed trainers...they wouldn't stay in business very long.

The link I am providing is the Association of Pet Dog Trainers. The trainer I use is accredited with them and if they are like her you will find a great trainer.

Please take time to read the page and then at the bottom is a search engine to help you find an accredited trainer in your area.

Good Luck!
