: I am intersted in getting a JRT and been researching the the breed. In this research I have found that leavingthe bread alone for extended amounts of time is not good in this type of bread. If I get a JRT s/he would be left alone during the times that I am at work sense I live alone. My question is: "Is there a way to confine the JRT while I am gone from the home like a secure dog run with some items that would keep his/her mind occupied while I am gone?

: Thanks Lee

Dear Lee,

I appreciate that you've done the research; thank you for taking the time to learn about the breed. As you have discovered, you are unable to meet the needs of the JRT regarding the "time alone" issue.

Your idea of a secure dog run with toys that occupy his/her mind doesn't address the issue; the terrier is still ALONE while you are at work. There is no substitute for human interaction; both you and the terrier will suffer from the lack of contact.
