: My wife and I (the only two people in our household) have a 7 month old JRT/Rat Terrier female, Casey.
: She is in her crate most of the day while we are at work (and is adapting very well) so we play with her vigorously at night and weekends...But, I've read that having another dog in the household would be benneficial (exercise and company while we are away all day.) Plus, we love Casey and would like another.

: The two questions I have are...Should we get another dog? If so, what breed (will our puppy accept any small breed?) and should the dog be a puppy or around Casy's age?
: Thanks for your help!

Dear Brian,

In my opinion, getting a dog for the purpose of keeping another company (and exercised) is wrong. If you are unable to provide enough mental and physical stimulation for your "only" dog, you will most likely not be able to provide for another dog either.
