Question:

: Hi,

: We just got a 9 week old JRT puppy. His name is Jerry. He is really sweet and loving, but he is very calm, does not really want to play. He just want to stay near me or my husband. he follows us everywhere and does not want to stay by himself. When I put him in his crate, he does not want to stay and he starts to shake like if he is cold or scared.
: Is it normal for a JRT? I know that they are supposed to be very active and playful.
: Thank you for your answer.

Response:

Hi Julie,

Not to worry, Jerry is a baby pup. Puppies this age are what I call 'Rocket Puppies': one minute they're up & full of energy, the next minute they're fast asleep. Like human babies, they take a lot of naps and cause havoc when they're awake. Jerry will be up & running 3-4 months from now...and you'll be remembering that sweet little sleeping puppy.

Stay with the crate training, it will be worth it to both you & Jerry in the long run.

Best,
Judy
