Story Name: Bailey amazes Mom & Dad
From: Samara Deavers
My Jack Russell Story:
Hi! I'm Bailey, a 7.5 mos. old neutered (Youch!) JRT. Mom & Dad took me to this really cool place in Souther Pines, N.C. a week ago, and I'd love to tell you about it!
We got there really early (about 7:00 a.m.) so I got to meet some of my cousins. Everyone was really nice and got along great! Then Mom & Dad put this strange thing on my nose, and put me in this weird box. The strange thing is, when the door opened, there was a grey fuzzy smelly thing on the ground, and it started running! Six other dogs and I took of after it, and although I tried my best to catch it, there was this hole at the end and I didn't quite know what it was for, so I let all the other dogs go through first to see what would happen (aren't I a Smart Dog!). Well, I guess I was supposed to go through first, because the dog that did got a really neat ribbon, but Mom & Dad patted me and called me "GOOD BOY" anyway, so I guess it wasn't that bad.
After a potty and rest break, we went over to where there was a tunnel and a funny smell in the ground. I really wanted to know what that smell was, even though I had never been in a tunnel before. Mom & Dad put me close to the entrance, and then they took off my collar and let me chase the smell. What a surprise!! There were RATS at the end, and Mom & Dad actually Encouraged me to bark at them!! I NEVER get to do this at home!! It was really great! I liked it so much, that I got to go in a longer tunnel two more times! I guess I did pretty good in that RAT getting thing, 'cause they gave me 3 ribbons! Mom and Dad even called me Champion (although my ribbon said 6th place, they thought I did great!). All in all, it was a pretty fun day, but I was getting kind of tired.
After the RAT chasing, Mom took me over to a ring with a lot of strange looking stuff in it. I tried some of it out, but it really wasn't that interesting to me, and I was pretty tired, so Mom didn't make me do too much.
We watched my new friends go into a ring and get looked at by some judges. Some of them got pretty ribbons, and a few even got some silver cups! I couldn't go in the ring, because mom said I am missing some equipment. If someone knows what it is I'm missing, please let me know! I just can't figure it out!
All in all it was a pretty great day. We packed it up around 5:00 p.m. and said goodbye to our new friends. They were all so helpful, seeing as how we're new to this and didn't know what to expect. I'm sure we'll see some of them at more of these fun things. OOPS, gotta go, Mom wants to type someting on the computer, and she hates it when I get the keyboard all muddy with my paws.
See you later!----Bailey (Woof Woof)
Bailey took 4th place in puppy open GTG, 2nd place open puppy GTG, and 6th place Champion puppy GTG. This was all of our first trial, so we are very proud, and would like to thank Martha for her help and encouragement to enter as many classes as we could, and to all our new friends for their hints andf advice. P.S.--Now that Bailey has figured out what that hole is for at the end of the race--Watch Out!
